Some serious crop-thinning in this dry-creek Zinfandel vineyard; these trellised vines still looked like they had a pretty heavy crop loaded on them; in a coold late season like this they probably decided to go through, part-way through veraison, and drop a lot of clusters on the ground - pour encourager les autres. The vines have a better chance of ripening the remaining bunches.
