After 12 days away, a lot has changed in Napa; for example. the Cabernet Sauvignon in Oakville, Napa, is all coloured up. Veraison, when red grapes turn from hard green grapes to soft dark-skinned grapes, typically happens several weeks earlierĀ in Cabernet Sauvignon; but this season is very late. The red grape varieties are mostly still too under-ripe to be enjoyable to taste; white varieties like Sauvignon Blanc are approaching ripeness, and are delicious to taste!
